Holy stuff! I’m really excited about this Friday’s show. Nick Bartunek is a long-time some-time veteran of the Barefoot Open Mic, and has always wowed us with his chord changes and dreamy, Radioheadesque prose. Joel Hinajosa joined us more recently with his Belle-and-Sebastiany sweetness, and Ester just showed up out of nowhere with a suitcase full of offbeat lovesongs and Joanna Newsomlike lyricism. On Fri. November the 3rd, we have a double bill: Emith, a bluesy pop act, can be heard Emith or http://www.myspace.com/emith. Needle, a Low-esque synth-enhanced rock group, can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/needlemusic.

Interestingly, both groups are from SF, both groups are duos, and i forget the other thing they have in common. Two bands, both duos, and the other “2″ thing i forgot? That’s, like, a partially imaginary octet! What does that mean? i don’t know! I like them. Come see them. the show probably starts at 8pm.
This month’s First Saturday art opening turns the spotlight on the digital drawings of Zeruch, an administrator for the widely popular www.Deviantart.com. His prints reveal a sense of stroke and color that is vivid but contained, like an electric plant. The reception starts at 8pm.
