best of silicon valleywell golly gee wilikers and cover the ‘foot in happy sauce. The San Jose Mercury News just released their annual Best of Silicon Valley. And apparently there is some sort of vicious rumour that a certain cafe was voted Best Coffeehouse - for families - with kids - who like coffee. Either it is revengeful karma or seductive sutra. But it is certainly a first in the history of the Mercury News for readers to have voted for ANY other coffee place than Starbucks. So a certain round of thanks and super happy espresso goes out to all of you rabid Barefoot fans. May your coffee always taste sweet.

Barefoot bought this amazing coffee from this auction with these coffee party people for a whole boat load of cash. Just you wait till it gets here and you let it party in your mouth.

Since apparently there are just too many people who love great coffee and want to learn to appreciate it even more Barefoot has added a second coffee tasting event each month. So now starting in June 2007 there will be a open to the public, free coffee tasting every first and third Saturday of the month. These are educational and inspirational and recreational events where you can come and learn how to taste all the nuances of great coffee and learn to identify acidity, body and flavor attributes.

These are open to anyone who wishes to learn more about what makes great coffee great. The classes will be taught by the indomitable Dominic Taylor who is a multi-talented coffee scientist. Dominic is one of our coffee roasters, he is also an accomplished Barista and Barista competitor, he is a seasoned coffee cupper and instructor as well. You will be in good hands at these events. So come on down and join in the fun. Space is limited to the first 12 people to show up at 10:00 am. The tastings begin at 10:00 am and go until about noon each time.

Friday brings us our favorite unclassifiable band , DeatHat. DeatHat is joined by our favorite progjazzfunksinger/songwriter, Benjamin Henderson. Too groovy to pass up!

Saturday sees a new batch of art and a new 1st Saturday art opening. Come by from 8 to 10 pm to meet Inna Razmahova and ask her questions about her vibrant photographs.

Friday we see the triumphant return from Australia of one Kenny Schick, former mastermind of Basement 3, now bringing his synthesistic everything-rock stylings to us solo.

On Saturday SF based indie rocker L. Cooper rolls her subtle, Mazzy Star-like self our way. She’s graciously offered some space to young singer-songwriter Josh Damigo, and might bring other guests, as well.
